Global Sources, Miami 2012: A Recap

Global Sources Miami has come and gone, and was again a success! While 2011- the inaugural year in USA- featured 1 exhibition hall, 2012’s doubled in size.

Although this show clearly is not as expansive as Global Sources Hong Kong, there were thousands of importers, mostly from the USA and all over Latin America. New buyers to experienced sourcing professionals visited and were impressed by the show’s growth from the first year. Mike Bellamy’s talks were a hit as always, teaching new importers the basics from sourcing tips to quality inspections.

While the show was overall a success, there were two issues that kept recurring for visitors to our booth.

  1. Many of the exhibitors did not speak English and were unable to communicate with the buyers.
  2. The breadth of products is not as great as you would see in Hong Kong. Several visitors did not find any of the products they were hoping to see.

Surely the Miami show will grow again in 2013, but we would recommend that buyers do their research before visiting in order to know who will exhibit. Check out our Events page for future trade shows at which we will be present.
