Mexican-Chinese Trade Relations

Many Latin American countries, such as Colombia and Venezuela, have challenging trade relationships with China. Mexican-Chinese trade on the other hand, has flourished. Since 2003, China has been Mexico’s second largest commercial partner.

Motorcycle tires, plastic products, surveillance equipment, and lights were among the main products imported from China in 2011. Additionally, Mexico’s shoes imports from China increased 183%; this is just one example of how rapidly imports are growing.

Import taxes and tariffs have been decreasing in goods coming from China, making importing from China even more attractive. Last year over 1,300 tariffs of products going to Mexico from China were lifted; the sectors that benefitted from these reductions are clothing and textiles, machines and electronic materials and toys.

At the same time, quality control inspections are getting more and more popular, as Mexican consumers are expecting higher quality products in the market. As a Mexican importer, the time may never be better to import from China, and Asia Quality Focus can be your partner in the process.
